IP over DWDM: Global Survey Analysis

In 2021, software-defined networking (SDN) was redefining control and management in networking and 400ZR coherent pluggable optics were beginning to ship commercially. Ciena commissioned Heavy Reading to conduct a large global survey to understand network operators’ views on and plans for IP and optical convergence. The focus of the 2021 survey was on the communications service provider (CSP) market, which has very different needs compared to hyperscalers.
